2] National Tourism Investment Profile & Promotion Strategy 2016 – 2026 (NTIPPS)
The MET’s objectives are for Namibia to become a more competitive tourism destination in Africa.
This investment will achieve various key strategies identified in MET’s National Sustainable Tourism Growth & Development Strategy 2016-2026 (September 2016), for example the following:
a] Ensure and promote tourism investment as a Government priority.
b] Create, sustain and promote a positive tourism investment climate.
c] Strengthen Namibia as a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, & Exhibitions) destination.
e] Tourism & hospitality product improvement & destination marketing, and to promote quality products.
e] Create and maintain a well-trained tourism & hospitality workforce.
f] Ensure strong economic linkages within the tourism sector value chain (local MSMEs).
g] Ensure that first impressions for tourists to Namibia are positive and memorable.
Minister of Environment & Tourism – Statement in the NTIPPS report:
“This Strategy aims to create a favourable and conducive regulatory environment for tourism investment with the objective of lowering transaction costs to allow the private sector to invest and grow the tourism sector through a superior tourism superstructure.”
“This Strategy also highlights the need and demonstrates a commitment to remove barriers to investment and provide attractive incentives, especially in priority areas, referred to as Tourism Entry Point Projects / Products / Value Chains (TEPPs).”

NAMIBIA IS ATTRACTIVE FOR TOURISM, BUSINESS & OTHER FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENTS
Reference to Part 1: HISTORIC HOTEL ACQUISITION DEAL Announced; Kasada agreed to acquire the 414-room Windhoek Safari Hotels and Conference centre property portfolio. The largest MICE venue in Namibia.
Kasada will further invest NAD100million on the PIP works and the brand conversions to achieve the Accor international hotel brand standards for the following:
215-key Mövenpick (Premium & 4-star segment),
199-key ibis Styles (Economy & 3-star segment).

This Kasada investment also aligned with the Namibian Government’s initiatives to entice more Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) in Namibia.
SOCIO-ECONOMIC BENEFITS
The tourism sector is an important contributor to the Namibian economy, both in terms of contributions to GDP as well as earnings in foreign revenue.
Hence, investments like this will achieve tangible positive socio-economic impacts for businesses (tourism value chain), and for communities in Namibia.
Not only will the PIP projects create 150 employment opportunities, the investment can also contribute to the development of the Namibian economy, and can entice further FDI activities from other investors.
